On the morning of March 22, 2026, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens held a program celebrating its 162nd anniversary in a lively and warm atmosphere, with the participation of large numbers of visitors, partner organizations, and especially more than 150 long-time loyal supporters.
From early morning, the grounds of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens were filled with festive colors. Reception arrangements were carefully organized, while check-in activities, photography, and livestream sessions took place enthusiastically, creating a joyful atmosphere that spread throughout the city’s familiar green space.
The official program began with an emotional opening performance, leading visitors on a journey to look back on more than a century of formation and development of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, a place that not only preserves a diverse ecosystem but also holds childhood memories for many generations of Saigon residents.

At the event, representatives of the Management Board shared meaningful remarks on development directions in the coming period, reaffirming their commitment to continue preserving and promoting the value of this beloved “green home.” The birthday cake-cutting ceremony, accompanied by the melody of “Happy Birthday,” became a memorable moment as everyone offered their best wishes to Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens.

A major highlight of the program was the launch of the official website of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, a new information channel helping visitors easily stay updated on activities, events, and discover many more enjoyable experiences.
In addition, the program introduced two publications that received the National Book Award: Treasures in the Heart of the City and The Wonderful Nature Series, contributing to spreading knowledge about nature and the environment to the community, especially younger generations.

The event also marked the first anniversary of the night tour When Night Falls, a distinctive tourism product offering a completely different perspective on the animal world after dark, and one that has received many positive responses from visitors.
The atmosphere became more vibrant than ever with an interaction session featuring the “Zoobiz idols,” the adorable animal stars of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, including African grey parrots, cockatoos, goats, sheep, iguanas, Sulcata tortoises, and black swans. In particular, the appearance of the newest “rookie,” a miniature horse named Cacao, quickly won the affection of visitors.

The program concluded with a parade of the “Zoobiz idols,” combined with a train tour around the grounds, bringing participants a fresh and colorful experience.

The 162nd anniversary celebration was not only an occasion to look back on the enduring development journey of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, but also an opportunity to connect the community, spread love for nature, and affirm its position as one of the city’s distinctive cultural destinations.
