In 2024, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens successfully returned a total of 13 wild animals to their natural habitats. This included seven Asian small-clawed otters released into the Can Gio Mangrove Forest, two pangolins transferred to the Forest Protection Department for future release programs, and two Asian small-clawed otters together with two leopard cats reintroduced to Cat Tien National Park.
In 2025, the zoo continued its conservation mission with the release of 77 additional animals. These included one Asian small-clawed otter returned to the protected forests of Can Gio, one pangolin, three long-tailed macaques, and two pig-tailed macaques released at Bu Gia Map National Park, as well as 10 elongated tortoises and 60 Iguana reintroduced to Cat Tien National Park.
